ImageFuel 1.0.7-1.0.8 brings several workflow improvements, polishes the interface, and fixes issues reported since version 1.0.6.
What’s New
RAW image support
ImageFuel now recognizes RAW files from all major camera manufacturers, including Canon (CR2, CR3), Nikon (NEF), Sony (ARW), Fujifilm (RAF), Olympus (ORF), Panasonic (RW2), Pentax (PEF), and DNG. RAW files appear in the grid alongside JPEGs and PNGs. They can be viewed full-screen in the lightbox and support metadata inspection and removal. Destructive edits such as crop and color filters are excluded to protect your originals.
Color filters
A new opt-in editing tool is available in Settings under Editing. Select one or more images, click the wand button in the toolbar or lightbox, and choose from a palette that includes Mono, Fade, Vivid, Cool, Warm, and more. You can assign a different filter to each selected image or apply one filter to the entire batch. A live preview updates as you switch filters. When you are done, overwrite the originals or save filtered copies to the same folder or any destination you choose. Applied filters can be fully undone in the sheet before you close it.
Custom delete folder
By default, deleting files sends them to the system Trash. You can now send deletions to any folder instead. Set this in Settings > Library > Send deleted files to. This is useful for a holding folder you review before permanently removing files. The confirmation dialog names the destination folder so you always know where files are going. Clear the setting at any time to return to the system Trash.
Drag-to-reorder in the grid
You can now drag images and videos into any order you like within a folder. The custom arrangement is saved per folder and persists across app restarts. Switching the sort picker back to an automatic option clears the custom order so the two modes never conflict.
Per-folder sort memory
Each folder now remembers its own sort preference. Switching from a Vacation folder (sorted by date) to a Work folder (sorted by name) no longer resets the sort you already chose. A default sort for new folders can be set in Settings > Library > Default sort order.
Subfolder creation from the sidebar
Right-click any folder in the sidebar and choose New Subfolder to create a folder on disk without leaving the app. The new folder appears in the tree immediately and expands into view.
Compact toolbar overflow
At narrower window widths the sort picker and kind filter collapse into a single overflow button. An accent dot on the button indicates when a filter or search is active so you never lose track of a filtered view.
Improvements
- Crop tool: Pixel dimensions of the current crop selection now appear in real time beneath the canvas.
- Metadata removal: Hovering an image in the sheet now shows a full breakdown of every metadata category found, including GPS location, camera make and model, lens, exposure settings, date taken, software, copyright, description, and keywords.
- Bulk rename: The {n} counter start value and zero-padding width are now configurable with steppers in the sheet footer.
- Search: The toolbar search button displays the active search term inline so you can see the current filter at a glance.
- Paste support: Command-V now imports file URLs or newline-separated paths from the clipboard when the files live inside an already-scanned root folder.
- Toolbar icon buttons now show tooltip labels on hover.
Bug Fixes
- Removing a root folder no longer leaves orphaned subfolder entries in the tree.
- The lightbox no longer shows a stale item when the grid is filtered and the filter changes while the lightbox is open.
- Crop saving now matches what you see on screen when the source image has a non-standard EXIF orientation.
- The “Save as copies” destination picker in the color filter sheet now clears correctly when switching back to “Overwrite originals.”
- Keyboard navigation: Up and down arrows in the grid now respect the actual column count at the current zoom level.
Under the Hood
- Subfolder listing now loads lazily per folder, keeping the sidebar responsive on roots with deep trees.
- Display item rebuilds are deduplicated so only the minimum work runs when you change sort, filter, search, or folder selection.
- Security-scoped bookmarks refresh automatically when stale, so folders from a previous session reopen without a new permission prompt.
