When it comes to your health, privacy matters. You shouldn’t have to hand your mood history, sleep patterns, and medication list to a cloud server just to keep track of how you’re doing. That’s exactly why we built SimplifiedHealth.
A Journal That Works for You
SimplifiedHealth is a personal health journal for iPhone and iPad. It gives you one place to log three things that matter every day: how you’re feeling, how you’re sleeping, and what medications you’re taking.
Each day you can record a BDI mood score, a value from 0 to 63 that maps to four simple categories: Minimal, Mild, Moderate, and Severe. Over time, seeing those numbers side by side with your sleep hours tells a story that’s hard to see in the moment. You can also add timestamped notes throughout the day, typing them or dictating with your voice, to capture context that a number alone can’t.
Your Medications, Organized
The Medications tab keeps a clean list of everything you take — name, dosage, directions, prescriber, and any notes you want to remember. For each medication you can set daily reminders at whatever times work for your schedule, with a custom message and notification sound. No more wondering whether you took your evening dose.
See the Bigger Picture
The Calendar view lets you browse your history month by month. Tap any day to review or edit its entry. When you have an appointment with your doctor, export the month as a CSV file and bring it with you. It’s one of the most useful things you can do to make that conversation count.
Private by Design
Here’s what makes SimplifiedHealth different from most health apps: there is no account to create, no server to sync to, and no data we ever see. Everything lives on your device.
If you want an extra layer of protection, and we think you should, you can set a 4 or 6 digit PIN with Face ID or Touch ID unlock. When a PIN is enabled, your notes are encrypted on-device using AES-GCM, the same standard encryption built into Apple’s operating system. The app also locks itself automatically whenever you leave it.
For the truly cautious, there’s a configurable limit on failed unlock attempts. If someone, or you after a rough day, exceeds that limit, the app wipes its local data entirely. It’s a last line of defence for a device that ends up in the wrong hands.
Why We Built It
Health journaling apps tend to fall into one of two camps: they’re either too complex, or they require you to sign up and trust that your data is safe somewhere you can’t see. We wanted something in between, focused enough to actually use every day, and private enough that you never have to think twice about what you write in it.
SimplifiedHealth doesn’t try to diagnose you or tell you what your numbers mean beyond the basic BDI categories. It’s a record-keeping tool, nothing more and nothing less. What you do with the records, whether that’s sharing them with your doctor, tracking patterns yourself, or simply having a log to look back on, is up to you.
